Artist Statement:

  • “Shabby Chic” was a decorating style popular in the 1990’s. This backpack harkens back to the romantic, broken-in look of the shabby aesthetic. The vintage Waverly floral canvas, "Norfolk Rose" has been quilted to echo the texture of the swirly embossed leather. Crushy and fat, it is not a fussy bag, but a "I woke up like this" bag. It brings back memories of the comfy feel of a warm afternoon wandering in and out of pretty shops and stopping for a cappuccino and a sweet snack. I love sewing things with lots of character and this is a sweet example. (This bag is a lovingly hacked version of the Estefania Backpack by ithinksew.com)
